Jaya Krishna Das from Chennai, a Multi-talented Personality Inspiration to many won the Award of Super Singer.
She moved to Delhi after her marriage as her husband was a Paediatric Doctor in Delhi. On Deputation by the Govt of India her husband was sent to Nigeria and she accompanied him. She started her career abroad after she joined the Ministry of Education in Nigeria. She was the Chief Examiner of the State, Member of the Board of Studies and Head of Department too. The results of the students from average to outstanding made everyone to realise how passionate she was with her teaching job. For 8-9 years, she was there and when she left everyone missed her as she had to return back to India for her parents. Being the only child, she believed that it is her duty to support her parents by staying with them and pitching in to make their life happy and comfortable.
She is a Soft Skills Trainer and has conducted many workshops for engineering students along with her team members. The idea is to help youngsters to communicate effectively and to build confidence which will enable them to have a positive attitude and overcome hurdles that cross their pathAfter she became a member, she participated in several events. Participated in the Fireless Cooking Competition as Judge in Abhiramapuram Centre and Thiruvanmiyur Centre in Chennai to encourage senior citizens to try out new skills. During the festive season she have participated in skits, music and dance programs and encouraged the members to join and have fun. Being supportive initiated change of attitude amongst the members. At Women’s Christian College, she took part in a skit to convey to the students the importance of wearing a helmet for their safety and survival. It was well appreciated as there was a message for the students. In commemoration of World Alzheimer’s Day, a walkathon was organized at the Besant Nagar beach to raise awareness about this disease. As many as 87 Dignity members and 232 students from DG Vaishnav College took part holding placards with slogans creating awareness about Alzheimer’s. Again, encouragement and support made many seniors to walk with them. She participated in several events, both sport and cultural event at the Intergenerational Sport and Cultural Event with DG Vaishnava College students and Dignitaries and won prizes too
In 2019 Ooruni Foundation in Chennai, had an event ‘Working Women Achievers Award’ at Kalaivanar Arangam. Out of 600 plus nominees 100 women were shortlisted and she was lucky to get awarded as an Achiever in the Phoenix category. A memorable day in her life and a proud moment for her. Recently she took part in a Theatre Workshop conducted by Dignity Foundation. As a senior citizen she realised there is so much to learn in technology and this workshop helped her a lot as it was an online workshop. It was connected with people from all over India. As part of the workshop, everyone had their roles to play plus be the production crew for their play as well. She also participated in an International Play which was showcased on the 30th of Oct. Later on 4th Dec it was showcased in Brazil as part of the Global Festival. The donations received helped the senior citizens who had Corona and also for those seniors who need help during this challenging time.
She says "Life is full of challenges. I am a senior citizen who is staying alone as my husband and parents have passed away & my two sons are not with me. Last year after the COVID-19 set in all of us had a tough time trying to cope with the situation. Since I couldn’t step outside my house I took up online classes for underprivileged students. As a Volunteer I am helping my students to improve on their fluency in English. She feels satisfied when we she sees the improvement. During the Corona time she reached out to the people who were in need with ration distribution for a slum couple.Music has always been her passion. In school she used to sing English songs and she was part of the school choir too. Then she studied Carnatic Music from the famous Carnatic Singer Chembai Vaidyanathan’s disciple Mani from Coimbatore. Later she learnt Light Music, went for audition and became an AIR Artiste too. She is an active member in several karaoke groups, have done stage programs. Last year in the month of July, she had participated in an All-India Music Competition conducted by Dignity Foundation. Out of 160 participants from all over India 10 were shortlisted as WINNERS. She stood Winner along with nine others. She feels more inspired when people openly appreciate her efforts and give her mementos, certificates and awards. Recently she took part in online music competitions. In SUR SAMRAGNI Online Singing Competition 2021, her name is in the Special Recognition List. She got a SPECIAL RECOGNITION CERTIFICATE. In SUPER SINGER, Bollywood Singing Competition 2021, she is a Winner in the Age Group 56 & above. In Magic Book of Record BEST ACHIEVER’S AWARD - 2021, she was selected for two awards, BEST SINGER AWARD & the second award for EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING AWARD & BEST SOCIALIST AWARD. So thankful to get recognition for all the efforts put in all these years. Every award boosts her to soar to the next level. She believes " A person who gets recognition for her work will always do much more than what is expected. Self-worth is so vital to one's happiness. Working for success will make you a master but working for satisfaction will make you a legend!"
She confidently says "To be healthy and happy we should keep learning and improving ourselves. Learning is an ongoing process. With so many achievements and awards the ending year has recognised her efforts with SDP WOMEN ACHIEVERS AWARD 2021
