Dr Shanthi Priya a consultant ophthalmologist by
profession, writer, model, a self-taught artist, a
fitness enthusiast, a young-onset Parkinson’s disease warrior for 10 years (diagnosed at the age of 38.)Her mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some
humour and style.
“Don’t choose the path travelled ,But choose the path untraveled and leave a trail”Is what she follows.
Last April 2019 she founded SAAR FOUNDATION a Ngo to make a difference in the life of a person with Parkinson’s. A holistic approach to living well with Parkinson’s.SAAR is an acronym for the four pillars upon which all of SAAR’s activities will be based:
• Support: Create a support ecosystem for people with neurological diseases
• Awareness: Conduct awareness programs for patients and caregivers
• Action: Influence actions and rally support to achieve SAAR’s objectives
• Rehabilitation: Build a state-of-the-neurological
rehabilitation centre.
She also writes poetry which is on her emotions and is an abstract artist.Art is an expression and extension of herself.She is in the process of releasing her first book which is on art and poetry depicting her reflections on life.
Her aim is to build a state of the art Neurorehabilitation centre to benefit people with neurological disorders under Saar-foundation.org.
Every day is not the same In the life of a person with Parkinson’s . People around us never realise that and neither do we need sympathy. Just allow us to live our life with out any social stigma.
Life revolves around good days,bad days, on periods, off period, Medications and exercise.She believes Life is once ,live it to the fullest
Have no regrets ,do what you want.

Be yourself don’t hide your self behind a mask . Acceptance is necessary to live well.
Don’t let Parkinson’s ever define you
Be active ,move more ,more dopamine
